KARDASHIAN FAMILY TO CO-HOST NBC's 'TODAY'

When I first read the announcement that the Kardashian family was scheduled to appear as co-hosts with Hoda Kotb next week on “The Today Show”, I asked the obvious question…WHY?

There was a very short article on the TV Week.com website that explained that each day of the next week a different member of this dysfunctional celebrity family will co-host for Kathie Lee with Khloe Kardashian Monday, step-dad and Olympian athlete Bruce Jenner Tuesday, mother Kris Wednesday, and Kourtney and Kim Kardashian on Thursday and Friday.

It is totally beyond my comprehension as to what these individuals have done to earn their celebrity status. Admittedly Bruce was a great Olympian, but the girls have done nothing but spent lavishly until a couple of recent very high profile marriages. How anybody can justify their current status as role models for the citizens of this country is something I just do not understand.

I lost my interest in 'The Today Show' some time ago due to its liberal political bent and endless entertainment and fluff pieces, but with these ego-driven selfish wack-jobs I will be certain to not turn on the program’s last hour next week.

Sylvester “Pat” Weaver created the 'The Today Show' in the early 1950s and it was a worthy morning News program for many years. In fact, it was the model for all the morning news shows that came later. However, it has become a self-promotional platform for all products and commercial interests benefiting the old NBC/General Electric ownership interests, and that model continues under the new vast Comcast ownership banner (and GE’s remaining 49% interest).

If the Kardashians are role models to be admired and emulated, then it just may be time to put your Commander out to pasture. You might want to also read the commentary below for more on this subject.
