Our recent Presidents and elected officials all must have failed to pass their History 101 class, because they certainly have not learned from the mistakes of the past. Just consider for a minute these wise words that were spoken 2,064 years ago.
“The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
Cicero – 55 BC
I suspect that our all-knowing egotistical intellectual leadership if questioned about Cicero’s words would tell us that times have changed, and that they know best how to move our society forward, so we should just trust them. Tragically, we have trusted them for far too long, and that is why we are in the difficult times that confront us today and which lie ahead. Logic and common sense trumps bull excrement every time.
