Frequently your Commander has quoted the inspirational words and writings of President Thomas Jefferson. History has proven that he was one of this nation’s greatest minds and his visions for the future have prevailed.
Earlier this month I wrote my thoughts relative to the recent upheaval in Egypt and suggested that the future of Egypt and the Middle East was quite unclear, extremely complicated, and yet to be determined. With that in mind let me remind you of a statement attributed to Jefferson that is most applicable.
“THE GENERATION THAT CREATES REVOLUTION CAN RARELY CONTROL IT.”
We should all thank our creator that men such as Jefferson were instrumental in the foundation of our great country, because he had the vision and understanding of what it takes to create, and maintain a successful democracy. Somewhere out there in America is another Thomas Jefferson, and our country sure could benefit from him or her at this time in our history. In the meantime, we all can benefit by reflecting on Jefferson’s words from the pages so carefully researched and written by many gifted historians.
